CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PLAN UPDATES

The Department is full of anticipation for the upcoming warmer months and excited to announce our lineup of programs and events scheduled from May to August 2024. May is our month to kick off summer and you are not going to want to miss any of the action! May 4th “FESTIVAL : where our cultures connect” event returns! EASTSIDE SKATE PARK

Be ready to see some major construction happening this summer! Construction Bids are underway and a selection of contractors should be completed in late May. Completely funded by Measure S, this new design includes elements that were

created from input from the skate community to include up to date skate elements and accessible features for all levels of skaters. This means you should see a brand new park in the fall of 2024!

SECCOMBE LAKE PARK

Expect to see shovels in the ground by late summer and a completion date in early 2025! The 44 acre park is getting a complete overhaul which includes a lake clean up for future recreational opportunities (imagine paddle boats!), improved walking

May 18th grand opening of the San Bernardino’s very first LA Dodger Dream Fields at Blair Park! We celebrate water safety month in May and we encourage you to focus on what we can do as a community to make sure drowning is prevented in our city. Join us for our culmination event on June 1st at the Jerry Lewis Family Swim Center for a full day of fun in the sun. Sizzling Summer Nights Concert Series (June & July): Get ready to groove to the rhythm of live music under the stars! We will feature bands and artists performing a variety of genres at the Roosevelt Bowl. Our Youth Summer Camps offer an opportunity for children to develop their skills in sports, arts, cooking, and more. Rec staff at Hernandez, Lytle Creek and Verdemont Com- munity Centers will provide expert instruction in a fun and supportive environment, making your summer the best! Starlight Cinema (June-August): Grab your popcorn and join us for family movie nights in the park! We’ll be screen- ing family-friendly films that are sure to delight audiences of all ages. Be sure to visit our website and follow us on social media for updates and announcements. We can’t wait to see you at our upcoming events and create unforgettable memories together. park, community members and visitors will be able to once again enjoy this amazing location. Construction is scheduled to begin early summer and have a grand opening before the

new year! Design includes two new baseball fields, a universally accessible playground, walking path, fully fenced in and well let area. Also, with the ad- ditional funding we received from the office of Con - gressman, Pete Aguilar, for $850,000, the Nicholson Community Center will also be under construction with shovels in the ground by late fall 2024!
