WHO WE A RE AN INTRODUCTION
Mothers Against Drunk Driving ( MADD ) is a nonprofit organization in the United States , Canada and Brazil that seeks to stop drunk and drugged driving , support those affected by drunk and drugged driving , prevent underage drinking , and strive for stricter impaired driving policy , whether that impairment is caused by alcohol or any other drug .
Advocates and works tirelessly to support victims at no charge , advocate for stronger laws and create a future of No MoreVictims ®. ARIZONA MOTHERS AGAINST DRUNK DRIVING

EARLY BEGINNINGS The Irving , Texas – based organization was founded on September 5 , 1980 , in California by Candace Lightner after her 13 - year - old daughter , Cari , was killed by a drunk driver . There is at least one MADD office in every state of the United States and at least one in each province of Canada .
BRIEF HISTORY
The Mission of Mothers Against Drunk Driving ( MADD ) is to end drunk driving , help fight drugged driving , support the victims of these violent crimes , and prevent underage drinking .

That ’ s 28 deaths every day and one death every 51 minutes . Each and every one of them 100% preventable

VIRTUAL SUPPORT GROUP Many of MADD ’ s local offices are hosting Virtual Support Groups for victims and survivors of crashes . The purpose of the Victim Impact Panel ( VIP ) program is to help drunk and drugged driving offenders to recognize and internalize the lasting and long - term effects of substance - impaired driving . The classes seek to create an empathy and understanding of the tragedy , leave a permanent impression that leads to changes in thinking and behavior and prevents future offenses . At a VIP , victims , survivors and others impacted by substance - impaired driving crashes speak briefly about the crash in which they were injured and / or a loved one was killed or injured . They share a first - person account of how the crash impacts their lives .
Providing you and your loved ones with emotional support Guidance through the criminal and civil justice systems Accompanying victims and survivors to court Helping you prepare a victim impact statement Referring victims and survivors to appropriate resources for additional help Connecting you with other victims and survivors who ’ ve had similar experiences Providing you supportive materials on victimization topics Referrals to local community resources including , but not limited to , support groups , crisis professional counselors , and civil attorneys Victim Services Provided at No Charge
They do not blame or judge . They simply tell their stories , describing how their lives and the lives of their families and friends were affected by the crash .
