Lime paint is an ancient building material that has

been used for centuries. Preserving historic walls and

facades requires finishes whose composition,

characteristics, and performance have been proven

over time. Romanit provides a natural and authentic

finish that stays true to lime's heritage in both

composition and aesthetics. Lime paint has its own

unique qualities, with brilliance and vibrant lightness

of color, but without a perfectly uniform surface.

The accelerated aging process of lime coatings,

whether new or old, is a specific and authentic

feature that differs from current paint technologies.

This

“sacrificial”

process helps to protect delicate

historic masonry, while sharing its physical properties

too. Romanit is also prized for its indoor use and

unique beauty, making it ideal for historic walls as

well as new or previously painted and mineral primed

walls following the current décor trends.

Lime paint is truly reversible

The use of lime products also offers reversible and

temporary coatings, which are crucial for genuine

preservation efforts. Even though Romanit can be

easily removed early in the curing process, it is also

remarkably long-lasting.

ROMANIT IS VERY ECO-FRIENDLY

Made from slaked lime, sourced responsibly from the Dolomite Alps of Italy, and only natural additives, the low-impact nature of manufacturing, and the zero VOC or preservatives all contribute to a very sustainable paint option.

PURE NATURE Romanit is formulated with natural ingredients from the earth. Pit-aged lime is coupled with artist-grade mineral pigments, marble powder and less than 5% organic content. The manufacturing process is simple and requires far less energy and processing than latex/acrylic paints making it very low-impact.

COEXISTING WITH NATURE When using natural slaked lime paint, it's important to understand that it offers a unique advantage compared to traditional paint. Instead of forming a typical paint layer, the surface develops millions of microscopic pores that are hydrophobic. This characteristic helps to protect masonry surfaces from the effects of weather, while also being highly vapor permeable. This means that masonry can breathe and stay drier, resulting in walls that are healthier and more durable in the long run. A completely natural process.

NATURE-INSPIRED COLOR TONES

Romanit is available in most colors of the KEIM Exluxiv color collection. The chalky nature of lime paint will tend to make colors appear slightly lighter than the paint swatch. We recommend applying a sample of your color, to judge the actual color, before proceeding with our purchase or painting project. Custom color is also available.
