Operational Updates Patrol Division Realignment and Police Beat Concept On August 19, 2017, the Fort Worth Police Department added a new patrol division and realigned the existing five patrol division boundaries due to significant growth in north Fort Worth. Each of the six patrol divisions include two districts and multiple beats. In January 2016, the Patrol Bureau returned to a traditional police beat concept requiring the assignment of patrol officers to smaller, more manageable geographic areas called beats. As of December 2017, a total of 90 beats are within Fort Worth.
