TEMPLEMORE BATHS, BELFAST

CARLANTO TRAVELLED BACK IN TIME TO FIND THE PERFECT TILE COLOURS, TEXTURES AND STYLES TO MATCH THE ORIGINAL ONES AT TEMPLEMORE BATHS… TILE SOURCING AND FITTING

C arlanto was responsible for a huge part of the Templemore Baths project: supplying and fitting all the tiles and fixtures for the original Victorian building and the new extension. In the original major pool, Carlanto did all the preparation work even before the tiling began. They had to renovate all the floors to meet existing levels in the old building using new techniques and metric measurements while having to adapt them to the existing space. The team at Carlanto had to colour- match the new tiles with the existing ones in the existing, old pool to guarantee that the heritage of the Templemore Baths would be kept. The process of finding matching tiles involved careful research and selection. “We worked closely with the client to

understand the historical significance and characteristics of the original tiles. This step of the process required meticulous attention to detail and a comprehensive understanding of historical tiling styles,” explained Managing Director Giuseppe Gaudiano. “Carlanto collaborated with suppliers and manufacturers to find suitable tiles that matched the colour, texture, and design of the existing ones.” The operational pool in the original building also required a new tank to be effectively built within the existing one. The team used a tile backerboard in various thicknesses, which was then waterproof-tanked and tiled. The surrounding of the swimming pool also required screeds to be applied in varying thicknesses to provide a flat/level

“We are immensely proud to have taken part in such a prestigious endeavour.”
