PROJECT

TEMPLEMORE BATHS, BELFAST

ROOF WATERPROOFING

C onstruction materials supplier Laydex Building Solutions NI was recruited by roofing contractors D. Harkin & Co. Ltd to supply Renolit Alkorpan, a single-ply waterproof PVC membrane, for the Templemore Baths roof. Laydex supplied the membranes with associated metal and accessories to provide a waterproofing system flexible enough to deal with difficult areas where the new additions of the extension met the roof slopes of the original building. The combination of the old and the new roof wasn’t always a match made in heaven. “Some of the challenges we faced included meeting the upgraded insulation requirements and accommodating the changing levels and volumes of rainwater that are directed from the heritage slate roof via the horizontal valley gutters and flat link roofs,” explained Liam Mallon, Technical Sales Executive - Roofing Division at Laydex. Laydex is the first choice of suppliers for its

network of contractors to provide solutions for a wide range of projects, from new build housing and education to refurbishment, renovation and heritage buildings, such as Templemore Baths. “Our approved contractor D. Harkin & Co. Ltd was the heritage roofing contractor and worked extremely well with Heron Bros to deliver the finished product,” Liam commented. “The

feedback from all parties involved in this project was very positive, and we are proud to have been involved in aiding D. Harkin & Co. Ltd complete their part in refurbishing such a prestigious and historic building.”
