also able to rely on their own supply of salvaged materials. “The team faced a lot of challenges with the insulation upgrade required to bring the building into the 21st century without affecting the aesthetics or the appearance of the roof areas,” commented Managing Director Danny Harkin. D. Harkin & Co has a tradition of 36 years as a professional roofing contractor and specialist leadworks contractor. They are one of only two NFRC Heritage registered roofing contractors in Northern Ireland, with numerous tradesmen carrying heritage cards. “As with all projects of this nature, the skill of the craftsmen is paramount to the finished product,” Danny explained. The MD said his team worked extremely well with Heron Bros to deliver a great job. “D. Harkin & Co, along with the Consarc Design Group and Heron Bros are very satisfied with the end product, as it now appears just as it did in Victorian times.” by Triogen and chemical controllers from Evoqua. The installation also used Certikin filter tanks and Grundfos circulation pumps. Blackchurch Leisure was subcontracted by Oak CWE to provide the sauna and steam room at the new extension. The company installed a Tylo bespoke sauna with Alder wood panelling and a steam room finished with Ezarri mosaic tiles. The spa area also features heated loungers for visitors to relax after a steamy session. Denis Murphy, Director at Blackchurch Leisure, commented Templemore Baths was the company’s first commercial heritage project. “We had worked with Heron Bros in the past, and this was another great experience with them,” he praised. “They are a professional team and Project Manager John Cullen is on top of his game.”

Oak CWE Ltd was pleased to be awarded the contract to install two crucial elements for both existing and new semi-Olympic pools at Templemore Baths: water filtration and chemical treatment. R oofing contractors D. Harkin & Co Ltd. have put the talent of their roofing master craftsmen to excellent use in a series of iconic heritage roofing refurbishments and were delighted to take part in the Templemore Baths project. The company re-slated the roof of the original building with reclaimed Welsh slate, also known as Bangor Blue slate. The material is produced from a fine-grained slate deposit, laid down over 500 million years ago in the Cambrian period. The reclaimed slate used was available from local salvage dealers. D.
