Bible Teaching Opening up the Word of God The Great Falling Away
By Rev. Christopher B. Cain June 2024 “Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord
are not going to get bet- ter, but we should be encouraged by the knowledge that we have been told this in ad- vance to not only in- struct us, but to encourage us as the world falls apart around us. As the world continues to exalt itself and op- pose God, we must rec- ognize conditions for the Antichrist are ripe right now, the road is being paved. We must not be deceived. The world around us is rejecting Truth, preaching a lie, and worshiping dark- ness. The only protec-
Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is re- vealed, the son of perdi-
ans 2:1 says, we should not be shaken or troubled by the return of Christ and the resurrection. It should encourage us. I believe in a pre-tribulation rapture, and that the evidence for a pre-tribulation rapture is found throughout the Bible. What I take issue with is the idea and mentality of escapism. There are many brothers and sisters in Christ who do not believe in a pre-tribulation rapture. I be-

tion, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is wor- shiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” (2 Thessalonians 2:1-4 NKJV). In last month’s article I discussed the coming persecution. I feel the need to help anyone who will listen become aware that things are rapidly changing for us as be- lievers here in the United States of Amer- ica. For far too long, we have had it easy in this nation. We have rested on the lau- rels of previous generations. We can no longer ride on the coattails of the faithful who have come before us. We have been asleep at the wheel for far too long. It is time for us to wake up and do our part to storm the gates of hell. The believers at Thessalonica were con- cerned that those who believed in Jesus who had died would miss the resurrec- tion. The apostle Paul addressed this in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18. The Apostle Paul assured them that those who had died as believers in Christ would be resurrected first and that we who are alive and remain would be caught up in the air with them. Paul ended the address to the Thessalon- ian believers with the command to com- fort one another with these words. I can understand the concern they had for their deceased brothers and sisters in Christ and in their naivety wondered if they would be resurrected. What I struggle to understand is, why is it that we live in a time in which we have access to the Word of God and more information about the Bible than ever be- fore and yet we live with inactivity and stagnant faith? It’s as if the deluge of the information age drowns us or lulls us into a false sense of security because we can always look it up later.
lieve one of the biggest issues they have with the rapture is that they see those who do be- lieve in a rapture take on the es- capism mentality — that since “we win in the end,” let’s just throw our hands up and leave it to God and have no part in storming the gates of hell or oc- cupying until Jesus comes. I believe if you are sincere in your faith and you understand that the return of Jesus is immi- nent, and it could happen at any moment that you should have a sense of urgency about everything that you do. If you believe in a pre-tribulation rap- ture and in the imminent return of Christ, then you must recog- nize we do not have time to kick back and watch the world de- scend further and further into darkness with each passing day. We must act. All around us, we see society plunging into utter darkness and depravity at breakneck speed. It is so critical that we recognize Scripture teaches the great falling away must precede the coming of Christ. We cannot just kick back waiting for Jesus to come pick us up. We must reach into the flames and drag people out of the darkness and into the marvelous light. Things
