Unveiling insights for wellbeing: HOSPO Health case study

What health and wellbeing support do our hospitality staff want? In addition to measuring the current status of health and wellbeing, the case study also sought information on participant preferences for a health and wellbeing program. The responses revealed a strong demand for: • exercise • nutrition advice • weight loss

In a case study undertaken in the initial six months of the program, HOSPO Health delved into the wellbeing landscape of employees and managers in influencer businesses. The study included responses from 61 participants, providing a comprehensive insight into their health and happiness. The key insights A noteworthy discovery was that the majority reported low stress levels and high happiness. However, a portion of individuals faced significant stress, highlighting the need for stress management strategies. The study also revealed opportunities for improvement in nutrition habits, exercise routines, sitting habits, and sleep patterns. • Nutritionally, 86% of participants consumed less than the recommended servings of fruits and vegetables, signalling room for enhancement. • Likewise, exercise habits indicated a necessity to encourage more regular physical activity beyond work-related movements. • Addressing sleep quality and duration was another crucial aspect, with 28% experiencing sleep troubles three or more nights per week. The study emphasises the significance of sleep hygiene for overall wellbeing.

Next steps: meeting the needs Based on the insights and preferences from our sample group, HOSPO Health is gearing up to implement tailored initiatives, including stress management tools, nutrition education, fitness challenges, and resources for daily physical activity on social media. We will be delivering a series of health and wellbeing courses tailored for the industry, with streams for both employees and leaders to enhance health literacy.
