725-867-8495 WWW.ASKEROTHLAW.COM NOVEMBER 2020 7 THINGS WE CAN LEARN FROM BRYSON DECHAMBEAU
It’s no secret: I love golf. One of my favorite players right now on the PGA Tour is Bryson DeChambeau. A few months ago, Bryson won his first major golf championship, the U.S. Open. Bryson is known as “the mad scientist of golf” because, in many ways, he is changing the way golf is played at the professional level with his new and innovative golf techniques. I love watching Bryson play because I enjoy following people, like Bryson, who disrupt current thinking and refuse to do things a certain way just because that’s the way they’ve always been done. Bryson is mixing things up on the Tour with his unique approach to the game. ‘The Mad Scientist of Golf’
put on 40 pounds of muscle, and changed his swing — all so he could extend his drive distance off the tee. Talk about dedication! Looking at pictures of Bryson in 2017 vs. 2020, he doesn’t look like the same person. During the U.S. Open, the announcers could not stop talking about how big he was (muscles) and how fast he now swings the club. 3. IF YOU WANT TO SUCCEED, IT IS GOING TO TAKE A LOT OF WORK AND SACRIFICE. YOU HAVE TO BE OKAYWITH THAT. The night before his U.S. Open win, Bryson was the last player on the driving range. He works out seven days a week, never taking a day off. He also brings a launch monitor on the driving range during tournaments to measure the physics and geometry of his swing so he can continue to improve every day. A lot of us may want success, but we are not willing to make the sacrifice to get there. Bryson shows that, to be an elite performer, hard work and sacrifice are prerequisites to achievement. 4. BE WEIRD. Some people call Bryson “odd” or “strange.” For example, Bryson will often sign his autograph backward with his left hand, although Bryson is right-handed. Another famous person who wrote backwards: Leonardo DaVinci. 5. GET YOUR HEAD RIGHT. Golf is a mental game. Bryson knows that to be the best, he has to make sure his mind is in a calm state. A nervous or anxious golfer makes mistakes. To keep a calm and relaxed state during play, Bryson has developed a technique to monitor and mellow out the peaks and valleys of his brain activity.
Here are seven things we can learn from this game- changing golfer.
1. EXPERIMENT TO FIND THE BEST FIT FOR YOU. Most golf professionals have irons (clubs) of different lengths and weights. This is the traditional way to play, and it’s how it has been done forever. Bryson experimented with different lengths and weights and found that the best option for him personally is to use irons of the same length, 37.5 inches long. His irons also all have the same swing weight, and he uses irons with lie angles of 10 degrees or more, which is why his swing looks strange. Bryson did not just blindly follow tradition; he experimented to find what worked best for him. This experimentation with different club lengths, weights, and angles took some time and lots of work, but it paid off. 2. FOLLOWTHE FACTS WHEREVER THEY LEAD YOU. After countless hours of studying other professionals, Bryson determined that if he wanted to be the best in the world, driving the ball farther than anyone else was key. So, he changed his workout and nutrition routine,

If you have school-age children, you’re probably close to losing your mind right now. Home-schooling is rough, especially with young children. Here are some ideas for free activities to do on the weekends with the kids. Just in case you’re looking for an excuse to get out of the house (like we are)! 1. THE MIRAGE HOTEL ATRIUM/TROPICAL RAINFOREST The Mirage Hotel has a giant 20,000-gallon saltwater aquarium behind the front desk. It costs nothing to view the aquarium! Also, the Mirage has a large waterfall, peaceful lagoons, and a huge variety of tropical plants. (The volcano outside the front of the hotel is pretty cool too.) 2. FLAMINGO WILDLIFE HABITAT I remember visiting the Flamingo Hotel when I was a young kid. We’d even sneak into the hotel pools (the security guards knew we were there and would look the other way). On the way to the pool, I was always mesmerized by the wildlife habitat. This habitat sprawls over 15-acres and is full of vibrant foliage, flamingos, cranes, turtles, fish, and even penguins! 3 BEST BOOKS for Your Children to Sink Their Teeth Into Watching your child grow and experience new things is one of the most wonderful parts about being a parent. Yet, many firsts, like a child’s first visit to the dentist, can be scary for them. That’s why it’s so important to talk to them about their first appointment and what it might be like. Reading to your kids is one of the best ways to help them understand the world around them, including dental health and going to the dentist. Here are three books that your child will learn from and love! ‘BRUSH, BRUSH, BRUSH!’ This rhythmic book can help your child get into a groove while brushing their teeth. What’s great about this book is that the words can be sung to the tune of “Do Your Ears Hang Low?” This helps your child remember proper techniques as they’re dancing along to their new song. 7. HAVE FUN. Bryson is not all business. He enjoys having fun and challenging himself during practice. To get a sample of this, check out his twitch video here: GolfChannel.com/news/bryson-dechambeau-reaches- 203-mph-ball-speed-during-charity-stream.
Bryson frequently hooks himself up to an EEG machine and watches a movie from beginning to end to try and maintain a proper balance between parasympathetic and sympathetic states. Using this method, he has trained his brain waves not to get too high or too low while being stimulated. During stressful moments on the golf course. Bryson has trained his mind to stay cool and calm under pressure. 6. DON’T STOP GROWING. Bryson keeps pushing the limits. After winning the U.S. Open, instead of relaxing and being content with his driving distance, Bryson said he is going to experiment with a 48-inch driver. This is three inches longer than the norm. Bryson wants to drive the ball even farther, “maybe 360 or 370 yards”!
After hitting a ball at 203 mph on the video, he can be seen jumping around like a little kid with excitement! He obviously enjoys the game and is having fun while he works. –TomAskeroth

letters regarding the transfer of medical care of the injured worker are extremely important, and we do all we can to make sure clients see the best doctors available. Other important determination letters that may be appealed are denial of compensation, claim closure letters, and average monthly wage calculations. On the contrary to an accepted claim, if a claim is denied, the denial is appealed immediately, then the claim is litigated while the claim remains closed. In many of these tough claim denial cases, the litigation process can take a year or longer to reach resolution. In both cases, Askeroth Law Group’s team works with great effort and diligence for all of our clients. We strive to ensure our clients receive the best medical treatment possible and to pursue our clients’ rights. Current clients can always feel free to contact us to get an update on their case or ask any questions. If you have been injured at work, give us a call to speak to our team about your legal rights.

Letters from the insurance company regarding a workers’ compensation claim are called determination letters. Generally, these letters provide appeal rights and might explain whether the insurance company will accept or deny the claim, medical treatment, or payment of compensation. After a C-4 form is submitted, the insurance company has 30 days to make a determination on the claim. When the insurer issues a claim acceptance letter, an attorney from our firm will review the determination letters received from the insurance company and file an appeal as necessary if the letter harms the client’s case. 3 Memorable Thanksgiving Day Football Plays
3 MEMORABLE THANKSGIVING DAY FOOTBALL PLAYS
Thanksgiving is all about good food, family, and football. Each year, football fans look forward to sitting down and watching the game with their family, regardless of whether or not their team is playing. While many games have been played over the years, some stand out more than others because of some major players and their quick actions. Here are three individuals who made their Thanksgiving Day games ones to remember. LAWRENCE TAYLOR New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor was said to have “single- handedly” beat the Detroit Lions in this memorable 1982 Thanksgiving Day matchup. The game was only the fourth of the season for Taylor, who had just recovered from a sprained knee injury suffered in a previous game. With the score tied at 6-6 in the fourth quarter, Taylor intercepted the ball from the Lions quarterback, Gary Danielson, and ran it 97 yards for a touchdown. LEON LETT The Miami Dolphins were up against the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day in 1993. This game was marked by its strange weather: Snow covered the field in Dallas, and temperatures reached only 26 degrees F. But that wasn’t what made the game memorable. In the last 15 seconds of the game, the Cowboys blocked the Dolphins’ last 40-yard field goal attempt. As the ball was rolling on the ground, Cowboys defensive tackle Leon Lett
dove for it but slipped and missed. The Dolphins recovered the ball and were given the chance to kick another field goal at the 1-yard line. The attempt was successful, and they won the game. PHIL LUCKETT One of the most memorable moments during a Thanksgiving game took place in 1998, when the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Detroit Lions entered overtime in a 16-16 tie. Referee Phil Luckett oversaw the coin toss, and that’s when things became tense. Steelers running back Jerome Bettis appeared to call tails, but Luckett said, “Heads is the call.” Upon review later, officials discovered that Bettis changed his mind mid-toss and had indeed called heads first. The Lions got first possession and scored a field goal to win the game.
