ORIGIN STORY

Born in Northern California, raised in Argentina, and later educated on the East Coast, Agustina L. Hobbs brings a global outlook to ALH. From an early age, she joined her father, Paul Hobbs, on vineyard visits and industry events— experiences that sparked a lifelong passion for the inner workings of the wine world. Determined to find her own voice in an industry shaped by tradition, she studied Enology and Viticulture at Cornell University (her grandparents’ alma mater), then gained hands-on experience working harvests in Cahors, France, and Mendoza, Argentina. Additional roles in Tokyo, Hong Kong, and New York City immersed her in the sales, distribution, and cultural aspects of wine. Agustina’s approach to ALH is grounded in respect for her family’s legacy and guided by a fresh perspective. “ALH is about charting a new path while honoring my family’s pioneering work in Napa Valley,” she says. “I wanted to create a wine that would bring different generations together.”

COOMBSVILLE

10

11

Tucked into the southeastern corner of Napa Valley, Coombsville is one of the region’s most compelling and still- evolving AVAs. Its volcanic soils and the cool marine breezes off San Pablo Bay yield wines of freshness, structure, and minerality—characteristics that set it apart from more discovered Napa appellations. Acclaimed for its distinctive growing conditions, Coombsville’s deep roots and emerging reputation signal the future of fine winemaking, drawing global attention to this once-overlooked nook of Napa Valley. For Agustina, Coombsville represents both a physical and philosophical home for ALH: a site that reflects her belief in discovering something new while respecting what came before.

NAPA GEM COOMBSVILLE VALLEY’S HIDDEN

A VINEYARD WITH HISTORY Named for the historical founder of Napa, the Nathan Coombs Estate was purchased by Paul Hobbs in 2012 and established his winery’s roots in the valley. The estate is positioned at the edge of a crescent-shaped caldera, a volcano that collapsed millions of years ago and produced the rocky soils that run through the vineyard. SOIL THAT SHAPES THE WINE Haire loam and clay loam featuring large igneous rock (formed by the cooling of magma) and volcanic tuff (sedimentary rock compacted over time). The rocky, well- drained soils allow Cabernet Sauvignon grapes to thrive. COOL CLIMATE Thanks to marine breezes, Coombsville enjoys temperatures as much as 10 degrees cooler than up-valley sites during the growing season. Grapes ripen slowly, preserving acidity and balance.

ALH: THE MODERN ERA A HERITAGE WINE FOR

NEXT-GENERATION VISION The father-daughter team of Paul and Agustina Hobbs delivers a contemporary approach to Napa Valley Cabernet while honoring the family legacy of meticulous craftsmanship. WINE WITH PEDIGREE Renowned for its exceptional terroir and precision farming, the Nathan Coombs Estate earned its place in history as the first vineyard in the Coombsville AVA to produce a 100-point Cabernet Sauvignon, setting a new standard for the appellation. ELEGANT AND APPROACHABLE IN STYLE The inaugural release of ALH redefines expectations, channeling the distinctive terroir of Coombsville into a bright, youthful expression of Cabernet Sauvignon. Elegant and approachable, it’s a wine equally suited for weeknight dinners or special occasions.

I N D E T A I L ARTISTRY E V E R Y

A collaboration between Agustina Hobbs and Napa Valley artist and designer Michael McDermott, the ALH label invites a sense of slow discovery. A tribute to artisanship and the tactile beauty of the analog world, the design was inspired by Agustina’s love of color and self-expression. The bold, exuberant hue sets a contemporary tone, while the blind-embossed typography subtly reveals itself with the light.

COOMBSVILLE, NAPA VALLEY, 2022

GROWING SEASON The 2022 growing season kicked off with mild winter temperatures and low rainfall; conditions that led to an early budbreak. A relatively cool spring ensued followed by a classic temperate summer, keeping berry development and vine growth on pace. Warm conditions in August followed by an intense heat wave after the Labor Day weekend hastened harvest. Though an atypical growing season, overall quality proved to be strong, producing fruit with fresh acidity, ripe mature tannins, and beautifully complex flavors. TASTING NOTES This wine presents the eye with a magenta hue and a vibrant ruby red rim. The nose offers up an inviting bouquet of ripe dark cherry, damp earth, and nuances of fresh violet. Harmonious and elegantly structured layers of fine-grained tannins and refreshing acidity develop on the palate. As the wine unfolds it reveals a sublime blend of black raspberry, wild thyme and dark cacao, while savory herbal notes add a further intriguing dimensional note. The finish is long and graceful with a touch of graphite—a hallmark of southern Coombsville’s cool climate and rocky volcanic soils.
