NAPA GEM COOMBSVILLE VALLEY’S HIDDEN

A VINEYARD WITH HISTORY Named for the historical founder of Napa, the Nathan Coombs Estate was purchased by Paul Hobbs in 2012 and established his winery’s roots in the valley. The estate is positioned at the edge of a crescent-shaped caldera, a volcano that collapsed millions of years ago and produced the rocky soils that run through the vineyard. SOIL THAT SHAPES THE WINE Haire loam and clay loam featuring large igneous rock (formed by the cooling of magma) and volcanic tuff (sedimentary rock compacted over time). The rocky, well- drained soils allow Cabernet Sauvignon grapes to thrive. COOL CLIMATE Thanks to marine breezes, Coombsville enjoys temperatures as much as 10 degrees cooler than up-valley sites during the growing season. Grapes ripen slowly, preserving acidity and balance.
