UNESCO World Biosphere Long Point, the world’s largest freshwater sandspit, is a birding hotspot and a key stop along the Atlantic Flyway, one of North America’s major migratory routes. Its shel - tered bays, extensive marshes, and forests provide critical resting and feeding areas for migratory birds and monarch butterflies. Visitors can participate in bird banding pro - grams with Bird Studies Canada, safely cap - turing, measuring, and releasing birds while learning about migration and conservation. This hands-on experience allows enthusi - asts to contribute to research and appreciate the vital role Long Point plays in supporting migratory wildlife.
