If you are late for your ceremony, we may not be able to proceed as planned so to avoid any disappointment, please make sure that you have allowed enough time to get ready and arrive at your venue promptly. Remember to also allow time for parking You are required by law to provide two witnesses. Witnesses can be anyone; a relative, a friend or a member of the public. The only requirement is that they speak and understand English and have capacity to understand the nature of the ceremony and at the end they will be asked to come forward and sign the marriage/civil partnership schedule. Please note that BCP Registration Service cannot supply witnesses. Guests BCP Ceremony Rooms Each of our ceremony rooms are licenced for a particular number of guests, this number includes your witnesses, however you may have a standing photographer and photographs. Witnesses and children under two years will not be counted. These numbers cannot be exceeded as they are laid down according to fire regulations and risk assessments. No extra guests will be allowed into the ceremony room.
Traditionally the groom or partner one, arrives first with his/her best man/best woman to check all is well, greet the guests and await the bride/partner. It is a legal requirement for the registrars to check the details on the marriage/civil partnership schedule with you individually before the ceremony starts. If anything has changed, most changes (for example, you’ve changed your witness, your job or your address) can be made to the schedule on the day. If, however, you have changed your name since giving Notice, we will need to see evidence of this beforehand. Please contact us to arrange this. You will also have an opportunity to have a brief run through of the ceremony and ask any last minute questions. After the registrar has checked details with the groom/partner, and the guests have been shown to the ceremony room, your registrars will then wait for the bride/partner in a separate area. You will not be required to bring any documentation with you. If you have different requirements and wish to arrive together or wish to discuss anything further then please let us know. It is very important that you and your guests arrive in plenty of time as your registrar may have other ceremonies to
