10 Ship Design

The SH Diana is more like a luxury hotel. The cabins are luxurious. There is a formal dining room and a casual buffet restaurant. The observation lounge and the outdoor dining area are the two main social gathering points. There is an outdoor infinity pool and a large outdoor hot tub. The ship has a gym, sauna, steam room and spa services. There is a small library and medical center too. Although you can spend a peaceful day onboard, the hotel aspect lends itself to having breakfast, enjoying a day ashore and returning to the ship to relax, tell stories and have dinner.

10 Stateroom

The ship has three primary levels of accommodation: Outside, balcony and suites. All cabins have binoculars. The robes are fluffy. I found the bed comfortable. The refrigerator is your mini bar. This includes champagne, beer and soft drinks. It is complimentary and refilled by the staff. The artwork is good. Every evening, pastries are delivered to your cabin. You get to know your cabin steward and your room is made up promptly.

10 Shopping

There isn’t any. They give you a backpack and water bottle on arrival. It is possible to buy a logoed hat or polo shirt if you really wanted to buy something. Unlike other ships, it is very, very hard to spend extra money onboard, because almost everything is included. (10/10) They get this score because everything is not a profit center.

Food

The dining room serves breakfast and dinner. (If it serves lunch, we never got there!) The casual restaurant serves breakfast and lunch, indoors and out on deck. Breakfast and lunch are primarily buffet style.Lunch features different cultures on different days. Paella, fish and chips or Bouillabaisse were found on the Spanish, British and French themed days. Lunch always included a grill serving burgers and sausages along with grilled shrimp and fish. Dining room dinners are seated, include five courses and take about two hours if you get into deep conversation with your new friends. Our table grew to ten people, with two other tables nearby.

Basically, everything is included. They have decent house wines. On our day of embarkation, the first couple we met when we sat down for lunch said: “They have a nice white Burgundy.” Different wines are served at the sit-down dinners. They have a reserve wine list which is fairly priced. The liquor they pour on a complimentary basis are familiar name brands. They have a premium liquor list, available at an extra charge.
