GLENDOWER’S NEW FEATURES
Glendower have completed the renovation of new water features which has significant-
ly improved the No 8-ranked course’s aesthetics. A messy stream in front of the downhill par-4 seventh hole is now an attractive and wide stone-walled pond, the water flowing down into it from a weir on the dam wall between the third green and eighth tee. The stream runs from this pond into the vast lake guarding the tenth green -- which has been cleared of vegetation, presenting a lovely vista -- and then proceeds into another stone-walled pond on the fairway of the 11th. Golfers need to carry this hazard if playing their tee shots to the right of the fairway. The waterway from first green to where it exits the course at No 14 is now a beautiful feature and was mostly built with the proceeds of a water levy on ev- ery green fee. Glendower has been look- ing picture perfect and in Augusta-like condition. A bunker project is under- way, and new white sand distinguishes the holes already done -- the first, ninth and 18th.
