to reckon? It is the instantaneous act of faith. Science tells us that death is the lack of the correspondence between the inner organism and the outward environment. We need to point ouF that the reckoning in Romans 6:11 is our part, while God’s part is plainly indicated in Romans 8:11. It is through the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit that the deeds of the sin­ ful nature are put to death declares the Apostle Paul under the Holy Spirit’s leading. Reckoning, however, moves in an­ other direction. We are also to con­ sider ourselves a l i ve unto God. There is to be inner response to the Lord. Ju st as we used to hand our­ selves over to sin, now we are to be devoted to the Lord. There is too much emphasis upon dependence upon our own works, morality, and self righteousness. Buried w ith Christ and raised with Him too, What is there left fo r m e to do? Simply to cease from struggling and strife, Simply to walk in newness o f life. The benefits of Christ’s work can only be realized by spiritual faith. “Faith is the ‘trolley arm’ that reaches up and contacts the ‘live wire.’ ” Literally the word “reckon” means to put things together, to cal­ culate or to consider Him. It is an act of spiritual faith counting to be true what God has already affirmed. The great facts of our Christian faith are utterly independent of human feel­ ings. If we do not believe what God says, regardless of our feelings, we be come downright unbelievers as Christians, making God to be a liar. Never forget these basic funda­ mentals: we are saved by faith, we walk by faith, we overcome by faith, and we reckon by faith. There is no virture in my moods. The virtue is all in the Lord Jesus Christ. Count your­ self dead with Christ when He was nailed to the tree. As from the grave He ascended, know that you arose with Him, too. Leave all the old things behind you. Reckon that all

It must be maintained if we are to be spiritually healthy, func­ tioning normally and efficiently along life’s way. This is the blessed path­ way to victory. Dr. Griffith Thomas stated, “Fellowship involves at least three different things: r e c i p r o c a l knowledge, reciprocal love, and recip­ rocal endeavor.” So we have the idea of knowing each other better, loving each other more, and doing things for one another. Fellowship is not a “one - way street.” I f you are in fellowship with the Lord then you are giving your­ self to God. This is the outgoing of your personality to Him. It is. of course, impossible outside of the fam­ ily of God. Some people may go to church, mingling with believers in a social way. Additionally, they may be baptized and even teach in the Sun­ day school. There can be no real shar­ ing of life with Christ, however, un­ less they have tasted newness of life in Him. 32 Fellowship
