The Faculty Senate Executive Committee (FSEC) submits this report to provide an update on the work of the Faculty Senate since the last Board meeting. We intend to provide more regular updates and look forward to collaboratively engaging with the Board and
administration to ensure student success. Appreciation for the Board’s Responsiveness
Thank you for your willingness to meet with the FSEC and hear our concerns over the past month, especially related to insufficient communication between the Board and the faculty. We appreciate your responsiveness to this concern through the action item passed at the January 30 special meeting and reiterated in the February 2 email to the university. We are eager to work with the Board of Trustees Academic Affairs Committee. Updates on the Vote of No Confidence The ( FSEC) received a petition on January 20, 2026, signed by 49 faculty members, requesting that the Senate authorize a faculty-wide vote of no confidence in President Wohlpart. Per the Faculty Code (Section IV.G.2), this petition was presented to the Faculty Senate as a formal motion. The Faculty Senate approved the motion on February 4, 2026, by a vote of 44 (yes), 2 (no), 2 (abstain), so the faculty- wide vote of no confidence will be conducted. It was clear from the Senate discussion as well as the submitted materials that this vote reflects concerns about leadership and process and does not represent a lack of commitment to CWU, its students, or its mission. All eligible faculty will choose to vote by secure, anonymous online ballot or by paper ballot at a polling booth or with a mail-in ballot. Voting will end February 18, 2026. Mail-in ballots may not be received by that time, but the FSEC intends to share preliminary results of the vote and the percentage of mail-in ballots received with the BOT AAC during our scheduled meeting on February 19, 2026. Official results of the vote will be shared with the university community by February 25, 2026. Hope for the Future
