February 10, 2026 Dear Central Washington University Trustees,
The Executive Leadership Team (ELT) unequivocally supports President Wohlpart’s leadership at Central Washington University. At a time of significant upheaval in higher education, collaborative, courageous, and transformative leadership is more essential than ever. President Wohlpart’s tenure at CWU reflects these qualities and has positioned the university to navigate complexity with purpose and integrity. The ELT, comprised of Vice Presidents and senior leaders responsible for advancing the university’s strategic priorities, works daily across the institution to address emerging challenges and implement scalable, sustainable solutions. Through these partnerships and our dire ct engagement with faculty, staff, students, and community members, we have developed a comprehensive understanding of the institutional climate. Based on this collective experience, we share the President’s concerns regarding the accuracy, completeness, and procedural validity of the information presented in support of a vote of no confidence . Collectively, ELT members bring decades of service to CWU. Many of us have served as faculty and have worked under multiple presidential administrations, navigating complex institutional challenges while remaining steadfast in our commitment to our students and the university’s mission. We can state with confidence that the progress achieved during President Wohlpart’s five years of leadership has advanced the institution more significantly than at any other point in recent memory. The priorities guiding this work— shared governance, fiscal stewardship, enrollment sustainability, and long-term institutional vitality—are not new. For the past three years, CWU has engaged in sustained, transparent dialogue around these critical issues. What distinguishes this moment is the shift from conversation to implementation. Meaningful change inevitably generates tension and discomfort; the work is complex and requires good- faith collaboration across all sectors of the university. We have witnessed President Wohlpart and the Board of Trustees model the courage and accountability required to move from discussion to decisive action. This is the kind of leadership our institution needs now. President Wohlpart’s impact has been transformational. He has empowered leadership across the university, embedded a culture of accountability, and cultivated the next generation of institutional leaders. He has coached and challenged us to view complex issues through an adaptive leadership framework, and to lead with curiosity and a growth mindset. Under his leadership, CWU has produced measurable outcomes for our campus, our community, and the broader region expanding opportunities for students while responding proactively to the evolving realities of higher education. He has also meaningfully elevated diverse voices by ensuring broader representation within executive leadership and appointing leaders from varied backgrounds to key institutional roles. Through deliberate action, he has expanded opportunities for inclusive participation in decision-making at a level not previously realized at
