I understand that a potential vote of no confidence in President Jim Wohlpart has advanced to a full - faculty vote. While I generally steer clear of organizational politics, I feel strongly compelled to express my unwavering support for the president — leader who, in my view, is exactly what Central needs at this critical moment in its history and challenges. Central requires courageous leadership — a leader who is willing to confront difficult challenges, make tough decisions, and step into the discomfort that real progress demands. In his role as President, he shoulders the immense responsibility of setting the institution's direction and preparing it for the future. In my year and a half here, I have seen firsthand the positive impact his leadership has had on many across the university community and their families. Doing what is right often means disrupting comfortable patterns. It inevitably creates tension and invites pushback from those who prefer the status quo. At our recent Executive Leadership Team retreat, President Wohlpart asked why any of us would willingly take on this stress. The answer is simple: he cares deeply about this institution, its mission of access, its people, and placing our students at the heart of the university. President Wohlpart steps into difficult work not for personal gain, but out of a genuine commitment to serve, to strengthen Central, and to create an environment where students, faculty, and staff can thrive. I returned to work because I believe in the kind of leadership he embodies — and, honestly, yes, I was also bored with retirement. As I return to university life, I want to make a meaningful difference —not to maintain the status quo, but to help build something better alongside leaders who share that vision. Without his guidance, resolve, and integrity, I am convinced Central would lose the momentum and direction it so urgently needs. His leadership matters. It is recognized. And it is deeply appreciated. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my thoughts. Hung
