ACTION – Services & Activities Supplemental Funding Request – SURC Theatre Lighting Project RCW 28B.15 establishes the Services & Activities (S&A) fee, which is collected from students at registration and is allocated to programs as direct budget allocations or indirectly through other organizations to fund student services and programs: student government, campus activities, a portion of the Recreation Center, some operations of the Student Union, and student travel for events. The Services and Activities Fee Committee is comprised largely of students but can include faculty and staff representation. The students are the only voting members. The S&A Committee recommends, and the Board of Trustees approves programs and corresponding budget levels for university organizations funded by Services and Activities Fees (S&A Fees). The Board typically approves a quadrennial budget for S&A fees, which the S&A committee allocates over four fiscal years. Within each fiscal year's budget, the committee sets aside funds for anticipated or supplemental requests. Supplemental requests over $25,000 must be authorized by the Board of Trustees. At the December 5 th , 2025, meeting, the S&A committee recommended for approval supplemental funding for the replacement of the lighting system in the SURC Theatre, allocating $266,545 towards a larger project that will ultimately include the SURC ballroom (funded by SUB fees). The committee acknowledges that this will be a capital project allocated from their reserves.
We recommend the following motion:
The Board of Trustees of Central Washington University hereby approves the supplemental funding request of 266,545 for the SURC Theatre lighting project.
