Dear Board of Trustees cc: President Gaudino cc: Faculty Senate Chair Stoddard cc: Provost Frank

cc. Dean Kathryn Martell cc: Professor Manweller

cc: CWU Board Treasurer Klucking cc: CWU Board Secretary Schactler

The purpose of this e-mail is to provide official notice that I am beginning the complaint process as outlined in Faculty Code - Section V.D.1 on page 17 of the attached. I will be away from town until New Years, and would like to re-connect at that time, after you have had a chance to review the information below.

Best, Ken Smith, PhD Chair, Department of Accounting 503-428-0994 (cell/text)

BACKGROUND It is with great dismay that I read about the CWU investigations in 2012 and 2013 of Professor Matt Manweller in the December 6, 2017 article in the Seattle Times. https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/times-watchdog/state-rep-matt-manweller-has- faced-sexual-misconduct-complaints-from-students/ Upon reading the 55 pages included in that article, I believe that there is sufficient evidence that Professor Manweller has, at a minimum, violated the Professionalism and Professional Ethics portions of the Faculty code (see page 17 of the Faculty Code - Section V.C.1.h and Section V.C.1.i - Faculty code is attached).
