A MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR

This is also the time of year to start thinking about safe, fun, and affordable summer camp options. The Sunrise Summer Camp Program remains one of the most affordable options in South Florida and is very popular among residents. We know how important it is to keep your kids active and engaged in summer activities, so we work hard to keep this program affordable for all families, while maintaining high-quality experiences for our youth. Providing opportunities like this is part of our mission to fund services that support families and benefit our entire community. In June, we are looking forward to the return of our Caribbean American Heritage Festival . After the incredible success of last year’s inaugural event, we are excited to once again celebrate the rich culture, music, food, and traditions of the Caribbean that are such an important part of our community. And finally, as we approach Hurricane Season, I urge you all to take preparations seriously. Now is the time to get storm-ready by preparing your yard and trimming your trees. The City is preparing too - if a storm threatens our area, we will be ready together. Every program, festival, and service we offer reflects our commitment to ensuring Sunrise is a vibrant and welcoming place to live, work, play, eat, shop, and learn. We hope to see you and your family at these

Spring in Sunrise is always a busy and exciting time, and this year is no exception! In this edition of Horizons, the City spotlights so many ways to gather, celebrate, and enjoy everything we have to offer – activities, events, and educational programs for everyone from the young to the young-at-heart! Year after year, Sunrise has been able to offer you, our residents and businesses, numerous special events, youth activities, summer camp, senior programs, and so many more opportunities to enhance your quality of life and make memories with your family and friends. We cannot do this alone – your support for our mission allows us to keep delivering on our commitment to provide the best and most affordable services possible. On April 18th, we invite you to join us for our annual Earth Day Festival at our newly redesigned Sunrise Amphitheater, where residents can enjoy live music and family-friendly activities, in celebration of planet Earth. This fun-filled event serves as an important reminder of our shared responsibility to protect our environment through sustainable practices and recycling wherever possible. Our popular FREE Tunes ' N Trucks concert series continues its season, giving families and friends a chance to enjoy live music, great food, and a fun evening under the stars. These concerts are always free and provide all of us a night away from the busy week to meet up with neighbors while relaxing on a blanket or dancing the night away.
