We Put People First

was essentially born into the roofing business. It’s always been a part of my life, and I suspect it always will be. I had an incredible career mentor who not only started the Dri Tech Corp that everyone knows and loves today but who also meant a lot to me outside the walls of our business. That’s because my mentor was my dad. My dad, Vic DeBrouwer, and his brother worked for a small residential roofing business in southern California in the mid- 60s. They diligently pounded roof shingles day after day to make a living, but the itch to do more was always there. So, when the owner of the business was ready to retire, my dad and uncle jumped at the chance to buy him out. In 1967, they took over the business, and here it is thriving 53 years later. I first started working for my dad and Dri Tech Corp when I was 10 years old. I spent my summers hauling trash in the yard under his watchful eye and eventually rose in the ranks to driving forklifts and loading and unloading trucks. When the time came to leave for college, I knew I wanted to come back to the business ready to contribute more. So I studied accounting, earned my degree, then eagerly jumped back into things alongside my dad. We spent 30 years in southern California building the business together before moving it to Las Vegas in 1997. It was a big change, but we made sure Dri Tech Corp’s cherished values and practices remained steadfast.

My dad put people first, and he made sure that his company embodied that value. He lived a lifetime of building relationships by being incredibly patient and a fantastic listener. He found a way to coach my basketball teams growing up and still dedicate time to fostering business relationships that remain today. He taught me early on in my career that you should be able to do business with nothing more than a handshake, because if you’re a person who operates with honesty, a handshake seals the deal. That comes from trust, and you earn that by working with undeniable care and compassion every single day. Even though I’ve been running the show since we moved to Las Vegas in 1997, our values and intentions haven’t changed thanks to the lessons I learned from my dad. To this day, we’re known as a company that cares about people and keeps their word. Our clients continue to come back because we put them first, prioritize and streamline their work, and follow through with our promises. I make a point of being personally available to my team members and our clients alike, because I’ve seen the value in the relationships that come from doing so. We lost my dad a few years ago, and I was worried that there’d be some unavoidable shift in operation or attitude. It’s true that he left behind a hole too big for anyone to fill, myself included. But he also left behind a company that he put unrelenting care into day after day, person after person. He

built Dri Tech Corp, quite literally, shingle by shingle, until it became the embodiment of all the values he lived by for his entire life. So there was no ripple through Dri Tech Corp that sent people running when he passed. If anything, we were all inspired to keep the business growing and thriving. It just goes to show the incredible things that can happen when you think of others before you think of yourself. We honor my dad by doing that every day. My dad put people first, and he made sure that his company embodied that value.

A New Horizon in Wireless Technology

Few things change faster than the internet, and how we connect with the internet is constantly evolving. When it comes to wireless capabilities, fourth-generation (4G) networks have been the norm for 10 years. But 4G couldn’t meet demands forever, and there’s already talk of a fifth-generation (5G) network taking center stage. So, what makes 5G different from 4G, and how will it affect consumers and their internet-enabled devices?

and receive data without being physically connected to a network via cables. As technology improves and more connection points are established around the globe, new network generations are “released” to represent significant advancements in speed and reach. Consumers will notice the rise of 5G mostly with their smartphones. Apps and services that function using the internet will have fewer delays, faster loading times, more reliable internet access in remote locations, and more stable downloading and uploading capabilities. Experts predict that 5G will provide download speeds of up to 10,000 HOW POWERFUL WILL IT BE?

megabits per second, which is roughly 100 times faster than 4G. While it can take a 4G network upward of 15 seconds to download a simple 5-megabyte music file, a 5G network will be able to download an entire movie in less than two seconds.

These network updates are all about speed, but that doesn’t mean you should rush to switch your cellphone over to 5G. Many providers are still testing the service with select markets, and a full rollout of 5G isn’t expected until later this year. Check with your network provider about the options they currently offer and get ready to connect with the world like never before.

Simply put, 5G is the fifth generation of wireless technology that enables mobile devices like cellphones and stationary devices like desktop computers to send

Better Life: Our First Core Value VIC’S CORNER

t Dri Tech Corp, we put people first, and we always have. We created a list of six core values when we first started the business, and they really haven’t changed much because they’ve always served us so well. The first of those core values is what I like to call “Better Life.” Business is what people do, not who people are. What defines a person is their desire to create the life they want for themselves and their family. That’s why our first core value points to the fact that we realize Dri Tech Corp is a vehicle that allows our team members to achieve things in life that are more important than their jobs. No matter how stressful the job may get, and no matter how bad a recession is, the purpose of this company is to allow people to achieve the professional and financial goals that will give their families a better life. This company doesn’t exist to enrich its owners. When we have a profitable year, we put those profits back into improving the company in ways that will make our entire team happy. When your team is happy, their life is better. And when your life is better, you’re more liable to turn around and make someone else’s life better.

“Better Life” is such an essential company core value because when we all live by it, we have the potential to impact more people beyond just our team here at Dri Tech Corp.

We’ll Keep a Roof Over Your Head With Repairs Managed Through Roof Safe

The phrase “having a roof over your head” isn’t always given much serious thought until it becomes an actual problem. The protection and comfort of a roof that isn’t leaking, sagging, or otherwise falling apart is often taken for granted, so when it becomes an issue, it can lead to a lot of stress. Once you’ve started the process of having repairs done, you shouldn’t have to stress any further. That’s why Dri Tech Corp makes roof repairs as easy as possible for our clients through the use of FCS Roofing Software. FCS Roofing Software, better known to our clients as Roof Safe, doesn’t just make us a better business when it comes to streamlining our accounts and our workflow. It also ensures that our clients have the most reliable and hassle-free experience when working with us. This is made possible because Roof Safe gives our clients free-range to access their accounts with us, enables them to check progress, put in requests, and make changes all without having to go through

a middleman trying to communicate what needs to be done.

We believe in transparency when it comes to the work we do for our clients. We want them to know exactly where we are in the process of building or repairs, be able to look back on past work, have access to contracts, and most importantly, we want fast and easy communication. If there’s an emergency in the middle of the night, access to Roof Safe means clients don’t need to wait until the next morning to call our office and put in a repair request. They can put it in right when it happens, so that our office can start making plans to help as soon as possible. Roof Safe makes us confident in saying that we’re the the absolute best option when it comes to reliable roofing with great customer service. We are the only local roofing companies that utilizes this great system. So, don’t take your roof for granted and let Dri Tech Corp and Roof Safe work together to keep you covered.

At the Round Table

Alec Martinez comes from the Los Angeles Kings. He’s a respected defensemen who will pair nicely with Shea Theodore on the first line. He has two Stanley Cups and has played 600 NHL games. Robin Lehner is from the Chicago Blackhawks. He was a finalist for Top Goaltender in the league last year and will give the VGK the best goalie tandem in the NHL down the stretch. Nick Cousins is from the Montreal Canadians. He’s a talented young skater that plays both offense and defense well. He’ll be a great addition to our third and fourth lines.

We’re big Las Vegas Golden Knights fans in the Dri Tech Corp office. We love hockey, as well as everything the Golden

Knights have done for the community of Las Vegas since its inception. We’re a company that’s all about the local community, and the Golden Knights exemplify that spirit better than anyone. So we’re dedicating this section to them.

8-0 win streak! Best in the NHL! That puts us in first place in the Pacific Division with only 15 games left!

We also added some key players to our team right before the trade deadline.

Let’s go Golden Knights!

Top Mental Strategies for Your Fitness Routine

Whether your New Year’s workout routine is finally embedded in your schedule or you’re still trying to make it happen, always remember that your mind is just as important as your body. On some days, you may feel like anything is possible, and on others, it may feel impossible to even get out of bed. Don’t worry, that’s totally normal! There’s no reason to feel ashamed if you’re struggling with gaining steam and motivation for your workout. Here are some mental strategies to help you get firmly into your routine this year and the years to come.

or the long cardio sessions — it’s actually stepping into the gym. Sometimes, people will wake up and think that the gym isn’t possible that day as they lay in bed. Some people will psych themselves out of working out because their time is limited, or they worry about how tired they’ll be after the workout (especially after or before a busy day). Instead of thinking of reasons you can’t or don’t want to go, focus your mind only on the task of getting there. Stepping into the gym will often give you the mental push to actually work out. It’s also best to leave the all-or-nothing mindset behind — a 45- or 55-minute workout isn’t required every single gym session. Life happens, and even if it’s

a short exercise, your workout will actually energize you for the rest of your day.

Pushing Yourself to the Limit

Studies have found that the most successful people share grit: the ability to work hard and endure even the most difficult times. Workouts will burn, and the motions may feel uncomfortable or even painful, so it’s crucial to have the grit to push yourself to the limit. Rather than give up, you should embrace the pain and see it as a sign you’re growing stronger. Adjust your inner vocabulary. Anything that seems “uncomfortable” should be reconsidered as “intense” but something you can work through. Of course, be careful of injury pains!

Getting to the Gym

What’s the hardest part of working out? For most people, it’s not the heavy weights
