Wizard of Oz Playbill

ABOUT THE SHOW In this faithful and playfully short adaptation of the original novel, Dorothy lands in Oz and must find her way home to Kansas. But first she must find the yellow brick road, make it through the poppy field, avoid the flying monkeys, and defeat the Wicked Witch. No big deal. Luckily she has the Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, and Glinda the Good Witch on her side. Over the course of eight months, the young actors of the Rising Star Players have learned the ins and outs of theatre, from stage direction and blocking to auditioning and rehearsing lines. This adaptation of The Wizard of Oz brings out the best in student theatre. ABOUT THE LIBRARY What originated as a project of The Fortnightly Club, a women’s civic club, to establish a library has now grown into a two-location county library system. The Mabel Boswell Memorial Library in Bryant was dedicated in February 2002 and the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library in Benton was dedicated in August 2003. Thirty-four full-time and fourteen part-time staff members lead the library system that covers the entire county that runs 99 miles from point to point. A wide array of materials are available for checkout. This includes cake pans, video games, fishing poles, seasonal Halloween costumes, and Buzz Boxes. They also have traditional books, DVDs, and audiobooks. Both libraries provide free WiFi, computer labs and laptops for use in the building. In addition to the physical items available, online resources are available with a library card: skills training with video tutorials, genealogy and local demographic data, downloadable e-books by tablet or phone, movies and kids films.
