Black women and men are more likely to be diagnosed with breast and prostate cancer at a younger age and at more advanced stages than their white counterparts.

HEALTH EQUITY

Breast cancer deaths in Black women are 41% higher than in white women, despite similar incidence; prostate cancer deaths in Black men are more than twice as high as in white men.

 Family history and genetic mutations like BRCA1 and 2 and others increase the risk of breast and prostate cancer. FAMILY HISTORY

5% to 10% of breast and prostate cancers are hereditary, resulting from gene mutations passed from a parent.
