ALLENTOWN, PA — Members and guests of CREW LV PA enjoyed a special dinner a week before the official grand re-opening of Youell’s Oyster House. The family owned restaurant had been a West End Allentown favorite for decades; the com- munity was devastated when a January 2013 fire totally destroyed the community landmark. The original build- ing dated to the 1880s and had served a variety of func- tions before becoming a res- taurant. Constructed on the same site, the new building echoes some of the architec- tural lines of the original. Dur i ng CREW’ s May event owner Chris Filipos discussed the resurrection of the restaurant. In addition to being an excellent restaura- teur, Chris is a dedicated bee keeper who kept hives on the roof of his original restaurant as honey is a key ingredient in a variety of dishes. One of his hives managed to survive the fire; in the rebuilding of his restaurant he was deter- mined to once again have a place on the roof for his hives. Chris turned to a team that
