2025 Senior Stroke Play Championship Congratulations to our 2025 Senior Stroke Play Champions, Steve Galing in the Men’s Division, and Shelley Savage, in the Women’s Division. In the Men’s Division, Steve erased a 5 shot deficit after Round 1, firing a 1 under par 70 in Round 2 on the Arlington Red/White Course. Steve finished the tournament at 3 over par, winning by 2 shots to claim his first Senior Stroke Play title. In the Women’s Division, Shelley was as steady as ever, and didn’t seem to waiver down the stretch. Shelley captured her 5th Senior Stroke Play title, with a 15 over par total for the tournament. Congratulations to our Super Senior Division champion, David Knorr, who defended his 2024 title, and Legends Champion, Dan Sullivan. Full event results can be found by clicking here .

WNHGO: Women’s Nine Hole Golf Organization

Flag Day took place on August 26 in Fairfax, with Susan Kelly coming in first place. Thanks to Committee Chairs Marty Griswold and Kate Suggs for organizing the event. The 2-day 2025 WNHGO Championship was played on September 5th and 9th. Congratulations to the winners: Maureen Carita (1st gross), Ketty Farrell (2nd gross), Susan Kelly (1st net), Marty Griswold (2nd net), Rita Kuntz (3rd net), Elizabeth Deegan (4th net) and Michelle Mehta (5th net). Thank you to Committee Chairs Suzanne Campen and Mary Fields for planning a terrific event for our last major tournament of the season. On September 17, ANCC Fairfax hosted an MVTMA Invitational with players from Maryland-Virginia clubs invited. The theme was Wicked Good Golf, and the format was a modified 9-hole Scramble with creative rules for each hole based on the musical Wicked. Special thanks to Suzanne Campen, WNHGO Vice Chair for running the event, along with many Invitational committee volunteers who gave their time, talents, and energy to the event. Our Beat the Pro tournament takes place on Tuesday, 7 October in Fairfax. Registration is open in Golf Genius here using the GGID: WNHGOBTP. Contact Debbie Williams or Shanon Hardy with questions. Fall Fest will take place in Arlington on 24 October with a 9 am Shotgun start followed by a luncheon. Sign up through Golf Genius here using the GGID: WNHGOFF. WGO-18: Women’s 18 Hole Golf Organization

WDCGA: Women’s District of Columbia Golf Association

The WGO-18 ladies are enjoying their last month of the regular season, with Tuesday and Friday play continuing through October. Upcoming highlights include the annual Halloween scramble October 10 followed by the President’s Plate Tournament 21 October. The season will wrap up with the annual Fall luncheon and General Business Meeting 4 November, when the more informal winter golf season begins. September brought beautiful, clear skies and fun competition at the Irish Open, with Char Foley and Jane Tuck taking top honors in the 3-day tournament. Another special moment was celebrating the 10th anniversary of the MJ Smith Tournament on 19 September where MJ herself surprised everyone by visiting each group on the course, sparking laughter and wonderful memories. A big congratulations to Michelle Go-Lai and Leyla McCormick for winning with a fantastic net 62! WGO-18 is the original ladies’ group of the ANCC, founded almost 100 years ago. If you’re interested in playing 18 holes, having friendly and competitive play, and meeting an enjoyable group of lady golfers, please contact Membership Chair Ruth Daly at ruthadaly@verizon.net.

WDCGA will be wrapping up the season with the WDCGA Championship on 14-17 October at Trump National Riverview Course. This is a flighted matchplay open to all WDCGA members. On 29 October, Congressional CC will host the Tournament of Champions which gives winners throughout the season a chance to compete with each other for the overall championship. During October, any ANCC female member with a HCP of 21.9 or below who has played at least 20 rounds in the prior 12 months and belongs to the CWGO or WGO-18 groups can sign up for membership to WDCGA. Current WDCGA members have already been contacted regarding updating membership. Please contact Margaret Ann Connors at (240) 620-6903 or maconnors09@yahoo.com, your ANCC representative to WDGCA if you have any questions or you are interesting in joining. Spring match play teams are formed based on 1 November handicaps and schedules are made by early 2026.

There will be some new faces on next year’s roster, as All-Star golfers Wisniewski, Totte, Connor, and Parekh have reached the max age for the 13U team. The four veterans brought deep talent and tournament experience that the next Director of Junior Golf will need to replace. Fortunately, the All-Star Team has a deep bench with Vaughn, Coffee, Miller, and Polsinelli, as well as current All-Star team members Isaac Melles, Ella Turner, Grant Lucio, Ben Bromer, Chris Szymanski, Colin Puffer, Catherine VonFossen, Colin Williams, Jackson Anderson, and Lukas Sanders, all of whom contributed to another successful season. The All-Star Team’s accomplishments were recognized at the Junior Golf Awards ceremony held September 28th, where trophies were also awarded for the PGA JR Spring Regular Season, the Junior Tour Championship, and the Parent-Child Scramble. Front row: Brooks Coffee, Dillon Parekh, Connor Vaughn, Jackson Polsinelli, Robert Connor Back row: Charlie Wisniewski, Ryan Totte, Nate Miller, Coach Jimmy, Brooks Coffee, Nate Miller

ANCC All-Stars Make Another Run at PGA JR Regional Championship The 13U ANCC All-Star team turned in a remarkable performance at the PGA JR Regional Championship in early September, advancing to the semi-finals for the second time in the club’s history. The team was one of eight clubs battling it out at the two-day Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship hosted by the Maple Dale Country Club in Dover, Delaware. At stake: a trip to the PGA JR National Championship in Frisco, Texas. Coach Jimmy Kowalski brought a mix of tournament veterans and newcomers to Dover this year with a strong lineup of pairings. The Day One format was a two-person 18-hole scramble stroke play, with each club fielding four twosomes. The top four teams with the best cumulative stroke play total would advance to a second-day semifinal. The ANCC All-Star pairings were Charlie Wisniewski and Dillon Parekh, Ryan Totte and Brooks Coffee, Conner Vaughn and Nate Miller, and Robbie Conner and Jackson Polsinelli. Despite the tough wind, ANCC had a strong showing, posting a team total of eight under par to land in fourth place and secure a trip to the semifinals the next day. Day Two of the tournament was match play, and ANCC squared off against a familiar Regional foe—Fiddler’s Elbow out of Bedminster, New Jersey. Coach Jimmy stuck with his Day One pairings, but unfortunately, Fiddlers Elbow outlasted the ANCC All-Stars in rainy conditions to take the match. Afterwards, Coach Jimmy praised his golfers for battling a tough competitor in difficult weather conditions and called the team “top to bottom” the best he’s ever coached. This was the team’s fourth consecutive appearance at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals and a bittersweet one for the Director of Junior Golf, who has stepped into the role of ANCC’s Head Golf Professional. Over his 13-year career, Coach Jimmy has built one of the strongest junior golf programs in the region and established the ANCC All-Star team as a perennial contender in the PGA JR Mid-Atlantic league.
