The Simple Way to Refer a Friend After asking your friend if he or she would like to learn more about your favorite shopping club, go to Melaleuca.com. Scroll down beneath the specials to the button that says “Refer a Friend.” From there, you can send your friend a text or email. In just moments, your friend will get a link to a six- minute video that explains how monthly membership works and touches on Melaleuca’s 400+ products. After watching the video, your friend can open a Melaleuca account and start shopping immediately with the 30%–50% Member discount. If you have a Marketing Executive Agreement (which can easily be added in My Account online), you’ll be rewarded every time your friend purchases—which can really add up.
Let all your customers know about this new feature. “I’m eager to tell all my customers about this,” Heidi says. “I have plenty of customers who are not interested in the business side, but they freely talk about products to others. If someone is interested, they have no idea how to introduce that friend to Melaleuca. Now they’ll be able to go back to that friend and say, ‘Remember that place I’ve been telling you about for years? Let me send you a quick link about how it works.’ I think this is going to be really powerful.” Jennifer agrees. “I wouldn’t be surprised to see customers who have no desire to build a business become Directors with this tool simply because sharing the products is more casual,” Jennifer says. LH “Refer a Friend doesn’t replace interaction,” Jennifer stresses. As with any approach, build a real relationship first and learn how Melaleuca can fulfil a need. “Follow-up solidifies a customer,” Heidi says. “Have a 20-minute conversation after they’ve watched the video. Answer their questions. Point out products they might enjoy.” Only send the link to someone after you’ve had a conversation and talked about sending them a link. The video will make little sense if it’s sent to someone out of the blue. Rather than creating interest in Melaleuca, doing so will likely have the opposite effect.

Is there a limit on the number of Refer a Friend links I can send?
You can send up to five Refer a Friend links per week. It’s important you only use this as a way to introduce an existing friend to Melaleuca’s shopping club. This limit discourages spamming and “burning the fields.” Will Leadership Points be awarded if a new Member enrolls through Refer a Friend? Yes. What should customer follow-up look like? “Follow-up after Refer a Friend is different,” Heidi says. “The customer doesn’t see as many products, so you have to take on that responsibility in your follow-up.” Jennifer will follow up with her potential customers after they’ve watched the video to answer any questions and talk about her favorite products. Once they enroll, she emphasizes watching Learn to Earn videos. “Learn to Earn will drive home Melaleuca’s mission statement and give them further product knowledge that isn’t covered in the short Refer a Friend video.”
