IN THE SPOTLIGHT

When Senior Directors 8 Rodney and Phyllis Lum were introduced to Melaleuca by Executive Director 4 Diane Nakagaki more than 15 years ago, it made perfect sense to get rid of toxic products in their home. They ordered the Home Conversion Pack and loved the EcoSense ® products so much that they never shopped for cleaners anywhere else again. Right away, Rodney couldn’t help but tell his friends and family about the products their family loved. “Like so many others will tell you, building this business was kind of accidental at first for me,” he says. “I was just sharing cool products with my friends and family. After a while, I started hearing my friends’ stories and knew I had to share how the products could help them.” Since Rodney already owned another

business when they enrolled, building a Melaleuca business has always been something he just did part time. “I never thought I would walk out and change the world or be a super-fast builder like others,” he says. “But I always had a deep belief in Melaleuca. I always went to Convention, participated in Fast Track, and stayed consistent. Now I hope to advance to Executive Director by Convention 2021!” When coaching his team, Rodney reminds them that success comes as you stay consistent, never give up, and work at the pace that’s best for you. And if you ever feel stuck, use the resources that are available to you. “Remember that Melaleuca offers a lot of support for us,” he advises. “They’re constantly coming out with better products and improving the Compensation Plan.

It’s so much easier to build today than it was 15 years ago. I am so thankful for everything that Melaleuca has done for me.” Over the years, supplemental income from their Melaleuca business helped the Lums support their children in college and impacted their plans for retirement. But what’s even more important to their family is how Melaleuca products—like Rodney’s favorites the Peak Performance Total Health Pack and FiberWise® —have helped their family live healthier lives. Today, all their children are grown with their own families, but they are still Melaleuca customers. “My legacy is that my children continue to use the products,” he says. “And I hope my grandkids will carry it on too!”
