HOCKEY IS BACK IN BATON ROUGE! Professional hockey is getting a fresh start in Baton Rouge. After the former Baton Rouge Zydeco folded earlier this year, a new team will take the ice this fall at the Raising Cane’s River Center under the leadership of Andreas Johansson, owner of the championship-winning Binghamton Black Bears. The yet-to-be-named team will remain part of the Federal Prospects Hockey League, keeping the excitement of fast-paced hockey alive in the Capital City. BREC EXPANDS ACCESS TO LIFESAVING AEDS A trip to the park just got a little safer. BREC is installing 124 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) across parks and facilities throughout East Baton Rouge Parish, helping ensure lifesaving equipment is never far away during an emergency. The devices, designed with easy-to-follow audio and visual instructions, will be placed in high-traffic areas and added to the PulsePoint app so they can be quickly located when needed.
