CULTURE Junior Production – Fame Jr.

Christ’s College and Rangi Ruru Girls’ School Junior Drama Production

a real audience of 100 people for a mammoth nine performances. As in the past, the students really enjoyed the American Musical Theatre style, along with its energetic and relentless song and dance numbers. It was a joy to see every member of the cast with a wide grin for the full hour of every performance. A huge thank you must go to the College and Rangi Ruru staff who brought this production to life. Kirsty Bell’s dance routines and Nicholas Sutcliffe’s incredible work with the singing were impressive, especially under such time constraints. Grant Hadley designed the lighting and a brilliant set for the students to work on, not to mention, the fabulous car that made a special appearance making it possible to bring the 1980s, dream of dancing on a yellow cab a reality. Fame Jr. was an ensemble piece of theatre where each company member held the show together as a collective group. We are all excited by these exceptional young people. We saw incredible gratitude, maturity and theatrical skills from this cast and crew and we are very much looking forward to seeing them develop as they move through the school.

Two months later, it was opening night and those on and off stage were grateful to be performing to
