In the team’s first home match against a very strong Shirley Boys’ High School, things did not go College’s way. However, the 6–0 defeat – and extreme reversal of fortunes – delivered a better learning experience.
Next up, the team was away to St Andrew’s College. Despite being a goal down early, College powered home to a 7–4 win. At several points, College was stretched, and the result was only settled after some quickfire shooting from Ashwin Thomas and Ollie Young. It proved to be a great comeback. In the next home match, College faced a strong, well-organised and fast St Thomas of Canterbury
College. College was soon under pressure and a goal down. However, in the second half, the boys managed to keep more of the ball and exert more pressure, snaring two goals. Ashwin Thomas grabbed the winner on the counter-attack with five minutes left to play. In the away game against league leader St Bede’s College, College was determined to give a solid showing.
