Boys’ High School, and Waimak United, their dedication during training was starting to show on Saturdays. Having gone the first seven games without scoring a goal, the boys faced top-of-the table Cashmere Technical in the highlight of the season. The boys were raring to go, showing plenty of early energy as they moved the ball with speed, and, most importantly, played as a team. Through a flurry of sensational passes, College sparked the first goal of the match to take the lead. Unfortunately, this was short-lived as Cashmere came back strong, creating promising runs on goal that resulted in a cracking equaliser from inside the box. College went back on the attack immediately, managing to sneak in a goal just before half-time. Going into the second half 2–1 up kept the team focused and hungry for the win. The College defence – consisting of Josh Burton-Lyall, Ollie Bloy, Jacob Onions, Aaron Kwak and Vilmosh McLachlan – held strong against convincing attacks. College

managed to extend the lead to 3–1 late in the second half and could have gone on to score many more. However, with the final whistle, College happily took the 3–1 win. It was a fantastic result for the boys and showed what they were able to achieve when playing as a team. There were many great moments throughout the season and the boys played with a lot of heart. They had a desire to improve as players, and that showed during training. It was a thoroughly enjoyable season and I look forward to seeing how the boys progress with their footballing abilities in 2022. Jack Lindo Coach

Losing the first game by a solid margin was a wake-up call for the boys, showing that they needed to work hard to earn a win in Division 3. Throughout the early training sessions, progress was made and friendships were formed as the boys worked together and showed dedication to improve their dribbling, communicating, passing, and shooting skills.
