fitness on Wednesday afternoons in Hagley Park or a stick skills session on the training turf at Christ’s College on Thursday afternoons. The training sessions, which were held by Kendall Mead, consisted of a variety of skills and short matches that provided a good opportunity to work on team structure and passing. All competitions were played on Friday evenings at Nunweek Hockey Park and Marist Park. The team continually stepped up, with the turf training sessions
their losses provided positive moves forward for the team. Ben Donaldson was awarded the Most Valuable Player for the 2021 season. In his centre-half role, Ben was instrumental in holding the structure of the team. He did well to distribute the ball wide and both attack and defend. Maddox Diver was awarded the Worner Award for the player who showed the most spirit and enthusiasm. His positive attitude and strong work ethic during both games and practices earned Maddox this title. He had an outstanding work rate on the turf and never gave up. Fionn Noble was awarded the Most Improved Player award. Fionn grew in confidence and gained good skills throughout the season as a defender. He was a consistent player who had a positive
attitude both on and off the field. Thank you to the supportive family and friends on the sidelines. They were always positive and encouraging of the team, particularly on the cold and wet Friday nights. As were the 1st XI hockey players who showed up before and after their own games to umpire for the team. In addition, thank you to the following players who assisted the Youth White side when the team was short of players because of illness or absence: Geordie Pavey, Sam Bennett, Ohm Intoratat, Finnian Chan-Allan, Jonty Gray, Sam Hales, Wil Donaldson and Alan Viles.
