However, our small pool of players still managed to dominate the draw,
with five out of the 16 teams from College. A special mention goes to Jed Gimblett for being recognised as the ‘most promising player’ this season. His energy – both on and off the court – has been very welcome. The future of squash at College looks very good, with plenty of keen junior school players. Our junior champion this year is Gibson Burt while our senior champion is James Luxon. With Nant Prachuabmoh out for the season with a knee injury, our A team consisted of James Luxon, Shyam Hari, and Nont Prachuabmoh. These boys qualified for the final in the combined A and B pool against the Cashmere A side. Unfortunately, because of Covid-19-related restrictions, the final was unable to be played. Our junior team – Ethan Crilly, Tim Tolerton, and Albie Anderson – made
the final against the Christchurch Boys’ High School side. However, Covid-19 again stymied the clash. Congratulations to the boys on a fantastic first season. I look forward to seeing you develop your skills on court in 2022. A special thanks to Rev. Bosco Peters as his retirement this year marks the end of a 21-year contribution to squash. His banter on the side of the court will be sorely missed and we wish him all the best. College also loses many of our Year 13 players who have greatly contributed to the sport. To Reis Azlan, Rory Doull, Tom Lightfoot, Freddie Sudell, George Gearry, Shyam Hari, Nont Prachuabmoh, and James Luxon, I hope you manage to find time for squash as you go on to
work or study. Emily Priest MiC Squash
