Conor McCullough 15 years 50m backstroke, Daniel Bridgman 15 years 50m butterfly, Bradley Shearer 16–18 years 50m butterfly and James Currie 16–18 years 50m breaststroke. In the July holidays, five swimmers travelled to Auckland for the New Zealand Schools’ Swimming Championships. James Currie, Bradley Shearer, Conor McCullough, Daniel Bridgman, and Finlay McCullough all swam well, recording several personal bests. The medley relay team, who performed well at the Canterbury championships, fought hard to finish an agonising 4th while the same team was 6th in the 4 x 50m and 7th in the 4 x 100m freestyle relays. HOUSE RELAYS AND CHAMPIONSHIPS

COLLEGE SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS There were 38 members in the swimming squad in Term 1 and 26 in Term 4. The College Swimming Championships were held at the College pool on Monday 15 February. Individual Events Finlay McCullough swam well to become the U14 champion with 67 points. George Wilson was 2nd on 44 points while Basti Julian was 3rd with 33 points. Seamus Hickey won the junior championship with 67 points. Matty Hickman was 2nd with 45 points and Truman Heath was 3rd with 41 points. The intermediate championship featured close racing between the top three swimmers. Conor McCullough broke two records in the 200 individual medley and 200m freestyle events on his way to the title, with 54 points. Daniel Bridgman was 2nd with 47 points while Jordan Astley was 3rd with 40 points. The senior championship also featured some close racing and several record-breaking performances. James Currie was the outstanding swimmer of the meet, setting records in the 100m breaststroke, 200m individual medley and 400m freestyle events. These records had all been set by James in 2020. Bradley Shearer also chimed in, setting a record in the 100m freestyle. James took the championship with 58 points, while

Covid-19 restrictions meant that the House relays were unable to be held.

REGIONAL/NATIONAL EVENTS College was represented at the Canterbury Schools’ Swimming Championships by 16 swimmers, with several delivering notable performances. The open medley relay team of Conor McCullough, James Currie, Daniel Bridgman, and Bradley Shearer swam a great race to win in a record 1.47.86. James Currie followed that

up with a strong swim in the open 100m breaststroke to secure another record of 1.05.70. The records kept coming when the 15 years 4 x 50m freestyle relay team of Conor McCullough, Max Harris, Jordan Astley, and Daniel Bridgman dominated the race to set a record of 1.42.70. The team also picked up another six individual titles: Finlay McCullough 12–13 years 50m butterfly, Max Harris 15 years 50m breaststroke,
