The Canterbury Senior Secondary School Championships ran smoothly over several days at the start of the year at Wilding Park, with College entering several A team and B team players. It was great to see Jack Hansen- Ratter make the final of the Year 9 Canterbury Secondary Schools tournament. In 2021, we entered two teams in the Canterbury Schools Premier Grade. The senior team played incredibly well throughout the season, remaining unbeaten and again winning the Canterbury Junior Lawn Tennis Association Shield.
their respective competitions while the 9.3 team and the J2 finished 1st in their Division 2 competitions. In total, College entered two teams in Premier Grade, six teams in B grade, two at Year 10 and three at Year 9 in the Canterbury Secondary Schools’ Wednesday competition. In addition, we ran a non-competition squad for the seniors and the juniors, coordinated by Susan Harding, Katie Southworth and Melissa Campbell. In the House competitions, Julius House proved too strong in the junior competition, defeating Condell’s in the final, while Harper beat a valiant Rolleston House to take out the senior event. It has been another successful year for Christ’s College tennis and we are fortunate to have a very strong pool of talented players. In the Term 1 inter-school competition, the results of our
age-grade teams demonstrated our dominance. The B1 team won the B Grade Division 1 competition and, in Division 2, the B5, B3 and B4 sides finished 2nd equal. In the Year 9 and Year 10 competition, the 9.1 team and the J1 side won
