How has Love Loss Disco Balls evolved since you rst started? When we rst started, we were mostly focused on the sympathy range and it quickly evolved to include support cards to focus on the mental health aspect too. Currently we only have candles in our range of gis, but we will soon be extending this - another idea we have had from customer feedback so far is creating framed prints of our designs as people really love them and would like to be able to display them as works of art. We are planning to create mugs and much more too. Do you collaborate with other artists or organisations to expand the reach of your work? We knew we wanted to work with Campaign Against Living Miserably and make donations to them from our sales from the get-go, and this has been so important to us - knowing just how devastating losing someone you love to suicide is. We don’t currently work with other artists but it’s certainly something we would be very open to. We’ve had an initial chat with an Ibiza-based company which is very exciting for us (it’s our favourite place and we got married there last year). We’ve found that collaborating with inuencers to raise awareness has given us a big boost so we will continue with this too – it’s been wonderful to have so many people like this support our brand and vision. What advice would you give to someone looking to turn their personal story into a creative business? It’s certainly been a rollercoaster so far! It’s vital to keep focusing on the good things that happen during the ‘low’ points. We make sure to keep a list of our weekly ‘wins’ whether it’s a story from a customer about why they have bought a card, or a new idea we have had. We would say the main thing, however, is to connect with a community of like-minded people as they will be the ones who will cheer you on when it gets tough. It can be extra dicult when the ‘why’ behind the business is so personal because it just means so much, so you have to try and stay level headed. We also connected with someone (who we actually found through a Launchpad post!) who launched at the same time as us and sharing our experiences has been incredible – it’s always great to have someone in the same boat if you can nd them!
