Launchpad Magazine Spring Issue 4

Do you have any special spring-themed items or collections arriving this season that customers should look out for? Yes – in the shape of lots of garden items! Like garden furniture sets and more decorative items, like statues, bird baths, bird feeders, etc. We also have some furniture coming in from new suppliers that we’ve just started working with, that I’m very excited about! How do you go about curating your selection of products, especially for a season like spring when people are looking to refresh their homes? I’ve been with Browsers for just over 6 months now, so this will be my rst spring with the business, but my approach has been to invest in more modern, lighter furniture that I think will appeal to a broad mix of customers and really freshen up the shop oor as well. Also, as a relatively new homeowner myself I nd it quite easy to get into the headspace of ‘right, what would I like for my home and garden in time for spring?’ – which makes it more fun for me as well! With sustainability being a key focus for many shoppers today, especially during spring when nature comes into focus, how does Browsers Emporium promote eco-friendly or upcycled products? We buy and sell a lot of second-hand furniture, not just for individual customers but also for a lot of hospitality businesses in and around Liverpool and across the wider northwest region. I would say that we tend to have a ‘waste not want not’ approach to items, and will buy items that some people would take straight to the tip. If we can see some potential in a furniture item we’ll work on it to get it back in re-saleable state. Addition- ally, we either recycle or reuse all the packaging that comes into the shop. Spring is oen associated with creativity and growth—do you work with any local artisans or makers who have created seasonal, handmade goods for your store? Yes, we work with makers on an ad-hoc basis, but we’re hoping to make this a more permanent xture for the business. For example, we want to open up a vintage clothing stall and work with other sellers who have quirky home accessories and / or furniture. I’d also like to open this up to local artists and makers as I think it’s important to support and promote local artists and businesses where possible.

Are there any upcoming spring events, pop-ups, or workshops at Browsers Emporium that customers can look forward to? No events planned just yet – but we ask customers to please keep a lookout for our new items and also to check out the new and improved shop! We’d love to branch out into having work shops and events, but I don’t think we’re quite ready just yet. But this is what I love about working at Browsers, as a team we feel like there is so much potential and we’re excited about what 2025 will bring. Giing is popular around springtime with Mother’s Day and Easter—what unique or standout gis would you recommend from your current collection? We have some really lovely garden ornaments in, and also large glass lamps, perfect to add candles or fairy lights to. I think there can be an assumption that garden statues and ornaments are a bit old fashioned, but with the cost of living so high at this moment I’m a rm advocate in doing what you can to make your home and garden a really special place, so you’ll want to spend more time there – especially in a garden as the weather (hopefully!) improves. We’re hoping to get more decorative items in for the home as well, and some unusual lamps and lighting, so please stay tuned!
