Education has always been at the heart of Liverpool’s story, and for nearly 150 years, Liverpool Education Grants Charitable Trust (LEGCT) has been ensuring that students and schools across the city get the support they need to go beyond standard learning. Whether funding extracurricular projects, backing essential school resources, or helping young people gain access to life-changing opportunities, LEGCT has been quietly but powerfully making an impact. We sat down with LEGCT to talk about its legacy, the vital work it’s doing today, and how it plans to continue shaping education in Liverpool for the next 100 years. For those who may not be familiar with the Liverpool Education Grants Charitable Trust, what does it do? Liverpool Education Grants Charitable Trust is the operating name of the registered charity Liverpool Council of Education (Incorporated). e name was recently introduced in response to feedback, making it clearer and more recognisable for potential applicants. e organisation's current primary mission is to provide awards and grants to Liverpool secondary schools and students for educational initiatives beyond standard school funding. Additionally, it oers seed funding for projects that support and enhance the development of young people in the Liverpool area.
