Launchpad Magazine Spring Issue 4

Every business has its defining moments. Can you share a particularly tough time in your journey and how you pushed through it? The toughest time in the business I had was when I grew it beyond my mum's extension in her house; I was saving up money for a house deposit. Instead, I used it to build an office, from which I was told we would never use it outside her house. We ended up moving the office out of my mother's house once it was built, which allowed us to get things moving in the right direction. In the meantime, I lived in the yard in the cold, which, to be honest, nearly was my death until I had enough money to buy a house again. hahaha Sustainability is a big topic today. How does Central Waste Liverpool contribute to a greener, more responsible waste management system? We encourage all our customers to segre- gate their waste at the source. We then offer significant financial savings to encourage this. We also provide free on-site training for all customers to encourage recycling. What role does Central Waste play in the Liverpool community, and how do you support local businesses or initiatives? Recently, we have been engaging with the community and cleaning up parks and community centres. We actually enlist other private companies to help us do this and give them exposure so people see they are also ethical companies, which showcases local talent at the same time. We then work together or pass work to them if anyone enquires about their services. Running a business can be all-consuming. How do you balance work and personal life, and what keeps you motivated daily? In short, I don't know balance and never have. I tend to work an insane amount of hours constantly. I do this by focusing on key business areas and moving around after

I have made a significant impact in that sector. For example, if it's social media, then it might be the financial area, etc. That's how I stay motivated by varying the challenges. I do, however, try to stay in the gym. What does the future hold for Central Waste Liverpool? Are there any new projects, expansions, or innovations on the horizon? Are there any exciting plans for spring/summer? Right now, we have many plans within the community. We plan to tackle not just the parks within our city but also community centres. We are growing our ever-expanding network of other ethical companies that want to help out and showcase local talent. You will have to stay tuned to see what's next!
