Performing arts thrive throughout a variety of theater companies, including the Rochester Civic Theatre and the Mayo Civic Center, where live music, productions, and entertainment consistently animate the city. From local bands and open-mic nights to seasonal festivals and concert series, Rochester’s performing arts are not to be missed. From concerts to comedy to community celebrations, the Mayo Civic Center has recently hosted a wide range of notable events, drawing diverse audiences to downtown Rochester. One of the signature community gatherings is “Celebrate Rochester! New Year’s Eve,” held at the Mayo Civic Center on December 31. This festive event includes activities such as roller skating, games, face painting, rock climbing walls, and live music performances. The venue also welcomed major national touring entertainers including Ben Folds, Randy Travis, and Nate Bargatze, who sold out the center in September 2025.
In addition to entertainment, the Mayo Civic Center serves as a hub for community gatherings, trade shows, and conferences that bring business and tourism to the region. The Rochester Civic Theatre is the city’s long-running hub for community theatre, musicals, and family shows. The Jersey Boys, a popular jukebox musical, was performed to enthusiastic local audiences in 2025. The Prom and Pinkalicious the Musical were also part of the 2025 season lineup.
