Film and cinematic arts also have a strong presence in Rochester. For blockbuster favorites, visitors can check out the Marcus Theatre, a longstanding cineplex and local favorite known for its wide selection of the latest cinematic releases. A beloved part of Rochester’s history is the Chateau Theatre, built in 1927 to present plays, concerts, operas, movies, and more. Today, Threshold Arts manages the Chateau Theatre as a place to gather and experience culture, entertainment, and community events. Music lovers can enjoy performances throughout the year, both indoors and outdoors. On Sunday nights during July and August in Mayo Park, Rochester Public Music offers a free summer concert series called Riverside Music Series, inviting the community to enjoy music under the stars. The Rochester Recreation Center is another hub of activity in the Rochester community. In December 2025, the World Juniors Pre- Tournament Series, a set of international ice hockey exhibition games were held here as part of the lead-up to the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship.
