Pine Island Also located along the banks of the Zumbro River, Pine Island is a 20-minute drive from Rochester and was founded in 1854. With nearly 4,000 residents, Pine Island features one of the best school districts in the region. With it’s charming atmosphere and strong sense of community, the town has quickly become a bedroom community for nearby Rochester, while still celebrating its agricultural roots.
