ACTIVITIES The Town of Red River is landlocked within a 1.5-million-acre national forest that puts the splendor of Mother Nature at every doorstep. The only real growth and development you’ll see are trees and wildlife. The great outdoors is, without question, Red River’s main attraction and why people love visiting our old silver mining town. Of course, there is one notable difference about present-day Red River: Today we offer countless modern-day activities and amenities that let visitors experience the surrounding mountains and forests in ways our ancestors wouldn’t believe.
OHV (OFF-HIGHWAY VEHICLES) Okay, driving an OHV never gets dull, especially when the rocky trails lead you to some of the most scenic and secluded vistas and lakes in northern New Mexico. For those with grit in their hearts and who don’t mind a little grit in their teeth, OHVs offer perfect off-the-beaten-path adventures the whole family can enjoy.

FISHING Red River was named after the river that flows right through town. Yes, we have fishing and long stretches of it. Red River’s many riffles and pools are within casting distance of Main Street and catches of the day can be caught right from the shore. The river is easy to access and stocked generously throughout the year. There are many other rivers and lakes nearby, too, for satisfying day trips. Our guide services are happy to take you out to some of our favorite spots and hook you into a wonderful experience. For Kids Open shorelines, easy casting, walkable from virtually anywhere in town, fishing supplies stores; Red River is great for young fishers and for seasoned anglers who are still kids at heart. For Anglers You didn’t bring all your angling gear to sit and swap stories with kids in the park. For experienced fly fishers, hire a local guide to take you to more remote fishing waters. They can put you onto wilder trout and corroborate (wink wink) your remarkable fish stories.
