In 2022 we made the decision to sell our cowherd in its entirety to Triangle J Ranch, Miller, Nebraska, Annette and Darby Line family. Triangle J was the #1 registration herd in Nebraska in 2021. Altenburg was the #1 registration herd in Colorado in 2021. These bulls are a blend of breeding of both cowherds. We want to offer you the best of both! And how similar they are, the philosophies of good Simmental and SimAngus, black, baldies, and red. No matter the origin of the cows, we think you will find bulls you will like! All the bulls have been PAPed – Simmental and SimAngus work well at altitude. On February 13th, 2026, Dr. Tim Holt of Colorado State University tested our bulls at the ranch at 5,315 feet elevation. Our attempt is to show you which bulls are better risks to take to the “high country” and perform well. Those scores will be provided on each bull. Dr. Holt predicts spring yearling born bulls with scores of 42 or less and two year old bulls of 45 or less will work well at high altitude. This year, 15 two year old bulls were taken to Walden and PAP tested, furthering our commitment to bring you more PAP tested bulls. Simmental and SimAngus can help solve your PAP - Brisket problems!

Welcome to the Colorado Select Bull Sale!
This sale will be a great opportunity to buy from our very best. The only sire group that was split for both Nebraska and Colorado would be the Bold Ruler Sire group. All other progeny groups will be sold in their entirety in Colorado. After purchasing the Willie Altenburg herd, we promised to continue to find new ways to push the genetic advancement of this sale to new heights. We are dedicated to the most accurate measurements, DNA advancements, and most importantly, we will do everything we can to give you the latest and most accurate information we can for maximum profitability of your herd.
New this year is something we called the “Walden Experience.” As a test project we took a small group of age advantage bulls to a higher altitude of 8,100 ft to be PAP tested. The bulls were given the recommended time to acclimate and then PAP tested. The experience went so well that we plan to grow this program and offer more age advantage bulls like the ones highlighted in this year’s catalog. As we continue to learn how advantageous DNA and PAP is to the entire cattle industry, we ask that you grow your genetics with us and our dedication to your herd’s health and financial success.
