Can we be admonished too frequent ly to “consider” the Loi'd? Thinking of Him, reading of Him, talking to Him, listening to Him solves all diffi culties and makes for victory in small as well as great crises. Therefore, “consider him.” DECEMBER 19 Scripture: Hebrews 3:4 “He that built all things is God.” “When I look around and see the world’s unrest and sin, the threat of another world war, I am so thankful to know, ‘he that built all things is God.’ “Although Satan is having his way today, God is more powerful than he, and one of these days the Lord Jesus Christ will come, take charge and set the world in order.

DECEMBER 13 Scripture: Titus 2:11 “The grace of God that bringeth sal vation hath appeared to all men.” “Thank God for that. Salvation by grace is for all. If any one is lost it will be because he has dashed the cup of salvation from him”—D. L, Moody. Let us take courage as we pray for our unsaved loved ones. Salvation by grace Is for them. Pray that their eyes may be opened to see God's grace. DECEMBER 14 Scripture: Titus 3:1-7 "We ourselves also were . . . but after." Here is contrast. The Spirit reveals what we were by nature, and then graciously pictures what happened after we received the Saviour who in His own mercy, by His blood washed us clean from our sins, and justified us that we might* become heirs of His riches. Renewed In the Holy Spirit, liet us live in His power today, DECEMBER 15 Scripture: Philemon 10, 11 “ Onesimu8 . . . profitable” Every name carries meaning to some one and the mention of that name may stir gratitude or bitterness in the hear! of the hearer. The name of this man means “profitable,” Each one of us who loves the Lord Jesus desires to be profitable to Him. There is only one way to be so—that is to be close to Him, to be in His will all day. Then the mention of our name will provoke praise, not censure. DECEMBER 16 Scripture: Hebrews 1:6 “Let all the angels of God worship him [«Jesus].” Perhaps I need to heed these words. None of us is an angel, nor ever will be. But God calls us to worship Him. A few moments of real worship are more strengthening and valuable than many hours spent in reading or think ing about the Lord. The latter, of course, are worth while, and profitable if they lead to worship. “O cqme, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker.” DECEMBER 17 Scripture: Hebrews 2:11 “He is not ashamed to call them brethren." How these words humble the heart! How can He be unashamed of us who fail Him so constantly? Because He Himself has sanctified His own, and they are covered by His righteousness. He calls us brethren, for He has taken away our sin and put His success in place of our failure, His righteousness for our unrighteousness. "Rejoice, sad heart, lift up your voice and sing,” DECEMBER 18 Scripture: Hebrews 3:1 “Consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus.” DECEMBER, 1946

Lord Jesus, and He will forgive us, cleanse our hearts, and send us out to live for Him. And, moreover, He will give us thoughts and motives that honor Him”—Pearl Harris. DECEMBER 21 Scripture: Hebrews 5:6 “Thou art a priest for ever.” These words referring to the Lord Jesus give assurance to the heart. He is our High Priest, interceding for us, and such He is forever. I shall never lack an intercessor. God grant to me real gratitude of heart for this manifestation of His eternal love and provision. DECEMBER 22 Scripture: Hebrews 6:10 “God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love." Have you labored long and earnest ly for God, and then listened while some other one received the reward and the plaudits of the crowd? Be not dismayed or forlorn. God does not forget, and His reward is rich and satisfying. Go work today in His vine yard, and rest your case in His hands. He is faithful. DECEMBER 23 Scripture: Hebrews 7:26 "Such an high priest . . . holy harm less, undefiled, separate from sinners.” This is our Saviour and our Lord, our High Priest forever. Let our hearts thrill to worship as we ponder this description of Him. To only one Priest in the world’s history can these words be applied. And this One ever lives to make intercession for us! DECEMBER 24 Scripture: Hebrews 8:5 “See . . . that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.” Have you found your “pattern” for today’s work? It is found “in the mount,” the place of communion where God speaks to the heart and makes known His will. Having given the “pattern,” He will also give all needed supplies of ability and mate rial. He is a sufficient Lord. DECEMBER 25 Scripture: Hebrews 9:14 “Purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God." "Are you looking for power with which to serve your Lord? Are you desirous that your life be fruitful? Then let the blood of Christ cleanse you, that His Spirit may have full sway in your life. Seek the Spirit’s guidance, and He will use you in the most unexpected circumstances. Let your life be guided and controlled by the Holy Spirit, and your daily walk will be an impelling witness to His saving and keeping power” — Pearl Harris. 17

The power by which the orator sways bis audience, producing deep emotion and enthusiasm, and is admired as the master of all hearts, is not the power of the Holy Ghost. The same effect may bo produced by delightful music or splendid acting: and the tears of the sanctuary may bo no holier than those of the opera or the theatre. Even the most logical presen tation of divine things, which delights the hearers and im presses the imagination and the understanding, may be utterly destitute oi real spir itual power. Hence, some of the most splendid preachers of the Christian pulpit of the past two centuries preached almost without definite spir itual results in the known conversion of souls. It is not the mere truth as truth that produces spiritual results, but it is the power of God accompanying it through the Holy Ghost. A. B. Simpson.

£ “We, too, are His creation and He can take these weak, unbelieving hearts of ours and make them strong. Let us turn our hearts oyer to Him to day, in order that He may calm our fears and make us real witnesses for Him”—Pearl Harris, Biola student, ’U- DECEMBER 20 Scripture: Hebrews 4:12 “The word . . . is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." “When there is sin in the life, we are miserable and we dislike to read God’s Word because it discerns even our plans and our thoughts. The remedy is to confess our sin unto the
