The Alleynian 704 2016

And he reads it to friends and family alike despite his shy nature He tries to fight the tide and find ways to get heard without getting hurt Or put in the line of fire of the absurd words Raging curses swirling around making him seem worthless And he’s a firefighter sprayin’ water on the inferno burning And he starts thinking the tides turning

But still when he walks down the road in robes Those calm looks adorning peoples’ faces Metamorphose into scowls and glares of hatred

Now it’s back to square one - back to the basics He feels lost and he can’t trust anyone He goes to parties but the ideas so dumb He realises all he’s been doing with this partying is not having fun But trying to fit in and not seem like scum Left over, not with anyone

But I don’t let my past play a part on things to come
