Resources, or Marine Biology. The scholarship fund provides a mini- mum award of $3,000 per student. “For me, our Environmental Science Endowment Fund is per- sonal,” said Pete Strow, Coeur Alaska’s Environmental Manager. “I am a graduate of UAS' Environ- mental Science program, and my Environmental Science degree set me up for the career path I’m on today. One of the best things about environmental sciences or resourc- es is the high rate of employability.

They're well-rounded degrees that are applicable in many industries, including mining and government sectors. I was hired by Coeur Alas- ka right out of college and worked my way up to my current role as Environmental Manager. I’m proud to work for a company that cares deeply about environmental pro- tection and actively invests in the next generation of environmental stewards.” The endowed scholarship fund was established by Coeur Alaska in 1991, and the company has contin- ued growing the fund over the last several decades. Since its incep- tion, the endowment has awarded $39,577 to 26 students. Interim Dean Alison Staudinger added, “This endowment support demonstrates the incredible po- tential of community partnerships. Together with the 2024 opening of Áak'w Tá Hít, UAS’ new oceanside facility dedicated to environmental science research and student learn- ing, there has never been a better time to pursue a degree that helps us all to understand and manage Alaska’s natural environment and resources.” All Environmental Science, En- vironmental Resources, and Marine Biology majors enrolled at UAS are invited to apply. Multiple awards may be available. Preference will be given to full-time Juneau or Southeast residents maintaining at least a 3.0 GPA. For more infor- mation about applying to this and other scholarships at UAS, visit the Financial Aid website or contact the Financial Aid office at UAS at 907- 796-6255.
